Datasite Alternative

Datasite is built for the banker running the auction. Sifrsys is built for the team answering the questions.

Datasite suits a sell-side process where the advisor has run this playbook a hundred times and the brand on the room is part of the signal. Sifrsys suits a company running its own diligence that wants AI answers cited to a specific cell and a price it can read on a web page. Every Datasite fact below cites their own documentation.

The pricing model

A quote per transaction means three moving inputs, not one price.

Datasite states the model plainly on its own product page. Pricing is customised for every transaction and tailored to the scope, requirements, and timeline of the project. That is an honest description of a per-deal quote. It is also a description of a budget you cannot fix at the start, because each input moves while the deal runs.

  1. Scope
How much goes in the room
  2. Requirements
    Which features the process needs
  3. Timeline
    How long the deal runs
  4. Quote
    Issued by sales, per transaction
Datasite's own description of what a quote depends on. Each input can change after the room opens.

A deal that slips a quarter is the common case, not the edge case. Under a per-transaction quote a slipped timeline becomes a commercial conversation. Under a flat monthly plan it is a calendar problem. That difference is worth exactly as much as your timeline is uncertain, and no more.

What a citation is worth in diligence

Datasite names Summarize and Enhanced Insights, which produce summaries of documents and of the room. A summary is useful and it is not evidence. When a buyer asks where the revenue concentration number came from, the answer has to survive being checked. Sifrsys returns absolute 1-based sheet rows and column ranges. Tapping the citation opens the workbook at that sheet and washes those cells.

In-query
A chunk outside the participant's permission is never selected, so no later code path can return it
Structural, not empirical: both predicates asserted against pg_proc.prosrc on every push. Measured separately: a direct call from the published anon key is refused with SQLSTATE 42501.
Streaming
Purpose-built OOXML parser. The maintained libraries either drop cell styles in streaming mode or hold the whole workbook in memory to keep them.

The honest part

Choose Datasite instead if any of these is true.

Independence

Three shortlisted vendors, one owner.

Datasite announced its acquisition of Firmex on 26 July 2021, and the announcement is still published on the Firmex site. Based on publicly available information, Ansarada is also part of the Datasite group. A buyer who shortlists Datasite, Firmex, and Ansarada to force a competitive quote is negotiating with one company three times.

Sifrsys is independent. That matters less than a feature you need and more than most vendors admit, because it decides whether the second quote in your process is a real second quote. If price predictability is what you are shopping for, read the pricing page first. The plans are flat, the 14-day trial takes no credit card, and the price-lock commitment gives 90 days notice before any change.

Switching

Nobody migrates a live Datasite room.

Rooms are per transaction, so teams switch at the start of the next deal rather than mid-process. Export the folder tree and the originals, upload them, and the parser indexes PDF, DOCX, XLSX, and PPTX on arrival. The real work is rebuilding the permission map and the index, which is the same work as standing up any new room. For the first ten paying companies Sifrsys does that setup at no charge and locks the signup price for the life of the subscription. If you are weighing a cheaper published price instead, the SecureDocs comparison covers that end of the market.

Datasite alternative FAQ

Questions buyers ask when comparing these two.

Datasite does not publish public pricing. Its Diligence product page states that pricing is customized for every transaction, tailored to the specific scope, requirements, and timeline of the project. The number you pay therefore depends on variables you often discover mid-deal. Sifrsys publishes flat plans instead: free Starter, Teams at $399 per month, Pro at $999 per month, and custom Enterprise, with no per-page fees.
Yes, and more of it than most. As of 4 August 2026 the Datasite Diligence page names Blueflame AI as an AI deal assistant for Q&A drafting, document navigation, and semantic search, plus Enhanced Insights, Summarize, Redaction AI covering 120+ types of PII, Translation across 17+ languages, and Explain This. Datasite describes itself as the first data room with multi-LLM access. The difference is not whether AI exists but what an answer points at: Sifrsys cites an exact page or an exact spreadsheet cell range.
Yes. Sifrsys is independent and not owned by Datasite. Based on publicly available information, several products a buyer shortlists as Datasite alternatives belong to the same group. Datasite announced its acquisition of Firmex on 26 July 2021, and Ansarada is also part of the Datasite group. Running a competitive process across three brands owned by one company is not a competitive process.
When a bank is running a sell-side auction. Datasite has decades of sell-side M&A process depth, relationships with bankers who have run hundreds of processes on it, and bulk redaction across 120+ PII categories. If your advisor has already named the data room the process will use, that decision is usually made for good reasons.
