DocSend Alternative

DocSend is the best way to send a deck. It is not where the model gets read.

DocSend suits a founder who wants to know which slide an investor stopped on and needs an NDA signed before the link opens. Sifrsys suits the phase that starts when someone asks for the financial model. The dividing line is documented on DocSend's own help pages, and this page cites them.

Where the handoff happens

Four steps. DocSend owns the first two.

A fundraise runs the same way almost every time. You send a deck, you watch who reads it, someone asks for the model, and then a different job begins. Most founders keep using the tool from step one for step four because switching feels like admin. That is where the trouble starts.

  1. Send the deck
    One link, NDA optional
  2. Watch the reads
    Page-by-page visit analytics
  3. They ask for the model
    An .xlsx leaves the building
  4. Diligence
    Questions, cells, evidence
DocSend's analytics and NDA gate are strongest at steps one and two. Step four is a different product.

Step three is where the documented gap bites. DocSend's own help page lists the file types that support watermarks: PDFs, Keynotes, PowerPoint presentations, and Word documents. Spreadsheets are not on that list, and download-only files and URL uploads cannot be watermarked at all. The same page notes that applying a watermark converts the document to PDF, which is fine for a deck and is not what you want for a working model.

What a burned watermark buys you

DocSend and Sifrsys stamp similar fields. The difference is where the stamp lives. Sifrsys composites participant name, email, IP, and timestamp into the page bitmap on the server, tiled, before the image is encoded. Two participants viewing the same page receive different bytes. Delete every overlay element in DevTools and the identity is still in the pixels.

The honest part

Stay on DocSend if any of these is true.

Pricing model

Seats and asset caps, or a flat plan.

DocSend publishes its prices, which puts it ahead of most of this category on transparency. The shape is per seat with a volume ceiling: the Advanced Data Rooms plan comes with 3 licenses and allows up to 4,000 assets across all Spaces, shared by the whole team. Two variables move your bill, headcount and content, and both grow during a deal.

Sifrsys charges a flat monthly plan. The numbers are on the pricing page: free Starter, Teams at $399 per month, Pro at $999 per month, custom Enterprise. No per-page fees, and 90 days notice before any price change. Against the enterprise end of the market the contrast is starker still, because Datasite and Intralinks publish no prices at all.

Switching

Run both. That is the right answer.

Nobody has to choose here, and the two tools are cheap enough that choosing is the wrong optimisation. Keep the deck on DocSend where the analytics and the NDA gate live. Open a Sifrsys room when the first buyer asks for the model, and put the financials, contracts, and cap table there. The Starter tier is free, so the second room costs nothing until you outgrow it. Upload the folder tree, and PDF, DOCX, XLSX, and PPTX are parsed and indexed on arrival. Participants join by magic link with no account to create.

DocSend alternative FAQ

Questions founders ask when the deck stage ends.

Its documentation says watermarks are supported on PDFs, Keynotes, PowerPoint presentations, and Word documents, and that download-only files and URL uploads cannot be watermarked. Spreadsheets are not in that supported list. The same page notes that applying a watermark converts the document to PDF. Sifrsys composites the watermark into every rendered page including spreadsheet pages, server-side, before the image is encoded.
DocSend calls Spaces virtual data rooms and describes them as a way to group, organise, and share high volumes of content through a single link. Spaces are available on the Standard, Advanced, and Advanced Data Rooms plans. The Advanced Data Rooms plan includes 3 licenses and up to 4,000 assets across all Spaces shared by the whole team. That is a genuine data room for deck-and-document sharing. It is a different shape from a room built around spreadsheet diligence and Q&A.
DocSend publishes its plan pricing publicly, which most of this category does not. The model is per-seat: the Advanced Data Rooms plan comes with 3 licenses, and asset volume is capped per plan at up to 4,000 assets. Sifrsys publishes flat monthly plans instead: free Starter, Teams at $399 per month, Pro at $999 per month, and custom Enterprise, with no per-page fees.
When the job is sending a deck. DocSend's page-by-page visit analytics tell a founder which slide an investor stopped on, and Agreements gate a link behind an NDA a recipient can sign in one click. Sifrsys replicates neither. If your fundraise is at the deck stage, DocSend is the better tool and switching early costs you information you cannot get back.

Run the test yourself

Put the model somewhere it can be watermarked.

Upload the spreadsheet an investor just asked for, open it as a participant, and take a screenshot. Your name is in the pixels. Then ask the AI a question about it and click the cell range it cites. The Trust Center lists what Sifrsys does not claim, e-signature included.
